
Women’s Basketball’s Kyren Whittington Named to the AAC’s Weekly Honor Roll

DALLAS, Texas – Tulane's Kyren Whittington was named to American Athletic Conference's Weekly Honor Roll for the week from Nov. 13 - Nov. 19, the league office announced this afternoon.
In leading the women's basketball team to a 2-0 week, Whittington averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 42.1 percent from the field (8-for-19), 50 percent from three-point range (3-for-6) and 75 percent from the free throw line (12-for-16). Whittington also tallied four steals and three assists in the two games. She started her week with a 20-point and seven rebound effort in the 71-46 victory against Prairie View A&M (11/14). Whittington also drew five fouls and had two steals against the Panthers. She then put up 11 points and five rebounds in the team's 64-58 win over Mercer on the road (11/19). Whittington also had a pair of steals and drew 11 fouls in the game against the Bears.
Whittington is the first Tulane women's basketball player to be honored by the league office with a weekly award since Feb. 27, 2023 when she was also named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.
On the season, Whittington leads the team with her average of 15.5 points per game while shooting 42.2 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from three-point range and 82.6 from the free throw line. She has scored in double figures in all four games and has led the squad in scoring in two of the first four contests.
Next, Tulane travels and spends the Thanksgiving Break at the Cayman Islands Classic from Nov. 24-25. The Green Wave face off with Virginia on Friday at 10 a.m. and then take on No. 9 nationally Virginia Tech at 10 a.m. on Saturday with both games being held at John Gray Gymnasium.
