
Bradley Makuvire’s School Record Leads Track & Field on Thursday in California

Azusa, California – Bradley Makuvire ran a school-record time in the 10,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational to pace Tulane's outdoor track and field program at a pair of meets on the West Coast. The Bryan Clay Invitational is being competed at Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa, California. The team also sent the women's pole vaulters to the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at the Jack Rose Track in Long Beach, California.
Makuvire tallied a 28:50.61 to shatter his previous personal best by 47 seconds. He broke Emmanuel Rotich's previous school record mark of 29:09.24 set during the 2018 campaign. Overall, Makuvire finished 20th in the race in an ultra-competitive field.
Also, on the first day of the Bryan Clay, Allison Nelson ran a 10:56.61 in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Her run is the fifth-best in the school record books. Mackenzie Callahan just missed her personal best in running a 10:40.15 in the same event.
Arturs Lapins also made his mark in the school's men's 3000m steeplechase record book with his run of 9:02.64. It was the fifth-fastest time ever at Tulane.
At the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, Alexandra Potts led the team in placing in 12th place with a 3.76m/12'4" in the pole vault. Kate Sander finished 27th with a 3.61m/11'10". Kristina Leggas earned 29th place (3.61m/11'10"), Megan Fitzgerald finished 33rd (3.61m/11'10"), while Cosette Fleury took 47th place (3.16m/10'4.25").
Next, the Green Wave track and field program continues competing with the second day of the Bryan Clay Invitational starting on Friday afternoon.
