NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team is set to host Memphis on Saturday at 1 p.m. at City Park Tennis Center in what will be Senior Day for the Green Wave's Charlie Barry and Benji Jacobson.
Tulane, ranked 41st in the latest national rankings, comes into the match at 13-10 overall, while the 37th-ranked Tigers enter at 11-6.
The Green Wave is coming off a 4-1 home loss to #45 LSU on Monday. The Tigers won the top two doubles matches by 6-3 scores. The visitors also picked up victories in singles at Nos. 5 and 6, while the clincher came at No. 2 when Nick Watson triumphed over Tulane's Luka Petrovic 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
In singles, Tulane's Billy Suarez knocked off Chen Dong 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 to register the lone point for the home team.
Luc Hoeijmans led Welsh Hotard 7-6 (1), 5-3 when the action was stopped at No. 4 and Fynn Kuenkler was knotted at 5-all in the third set against Ronald Hohmann in the No. 1 match.
Memphis split two matches last weekend, defeating Wichita State 4-1 before falling 4-2 to #55 SMU in what was the only home loss of the season for the Tigers.
