
Tulane Earns Spots in the Open and Women’s ICSA Fleet Race Championships

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing team has earned automatic bids as the SEISA conference champions to the ICSA Open and Women's Fleet Race National Championships. The Green Wave is the reigning national champion after winning the 2022 Open Fleet Race National Championship. Both championships will be held in Kings Point, New York, along with the Open Team Race Championship.
The Green Wave women's team landed as the 13th seed out of 36 teams in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship. Tulane earned an automatic bid along with Texas A&M for the SEISA conference. The top overall seed in the championship will be Yale University. The Wave finished sixth in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race Championships last season.
The Tulane open team will race to defend its title entering the 16th seed among 36 teams in the ICSA Fleet Race National Championship. The Green Wave is also the only team from the SEISA conference to earn a bid to the championship as one of the 11 teams to earn an automatic qualifier. Yale University will be the top overall seed in the open championship as well.
The championships will be hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy from May 23-June 2. Competition will begin with the Women's Fleet Race Championship May 23-26 followed by the Open Team Race Championship May 27-29. The Open Fleet Race Championship will wrap up the ICSA championship festivities May 30-June 2.
