
USA Tops China in Final Exhibition Game

CHENGDU, China – Kolby King and Jaylen Forbes combined to score 41 points and help Team USA win a physical battle against China 96-91 in the team's final exhibition game before FISU World University Games pool play begins Saturday.
Team USA, made up entirely of Tulane players, held a slim advantage early after eight first quarter points by Forbes put the team up 24-23 after the opening frame.
The score stayed tight through the second quarter leading up to a final minute of the half as each team knocked down a three to knot the score at 52-52 heading into the locker room.
USA took control of the lead again in the third quarter, outscoring China 24-12 in the frame.
China pulled close again in the final quarter, but an eight-point performance in the frame by Gregg Glenn III and a key triple by Tre' Williams closed out the 96-91 victory for Team USA.
King led all scorers in the game with 22 points followed by Forbes with 19 points of his own. Glenn III and Williams each poured in 15 points while Sion James rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.
Team USA will open pool play Saturday, July 29, at 2 a.m. CT. The game will be streamed on the FISU TV App and online here.
