SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Tulane University sailors Thad Lettsome and Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez qualified to represent their respective countries at the Pan-American Games this year after competing at the Caribbean and Central American Games.

Lettsome clinched the only qualifying spot for the Games while competing in the ILCA 7 men's single-handed event in San Salvador. He finished sixth overall out of 18 countries in the event. With his qualification, the Green Wave sailor became the first sailor from the British Virgin Islands to officially qualify for a Pan-American Games in 30 years.
Â
Riefkohl-Gonzalez won gold for Puerto Rico in her class alongside her partner on the water Raul Rios. The duo finished at the top in the Snipe competing with seven nations.
