
Tulane Sailing Announces 2023 Fall Slate

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing program released its 2023 fall schedule, which will feature three home regattas, on Wednesday. The Green Wave is set to compete in 13 different regattas as it prepares to make a run back to the national championships.
Before getting into competition the fall season will begin with an intrasquad scrimmage for The Green Wave on Lake Pontchartrain on September 8-9.
Tulane will open the fall slate at the University of Texas for the SEISA Singlehanded and Match Race Championships. The regatta will be hosted on Lake Travis from September 15-17.
The following weekend, Tulane will host its first home regatta of the fall in the Sugar Bowl Open and Women's Fleet Races. The Wave will host the regatta on Lake Pontchartrain September 23-24. Tulane claimed first place in both the open and women's competition in the 2022 Sugar Bowl fleet races.
To close the month of September and roll into October the Green Wave will hit the road for a pair of separate regattas on September 30 and October 1. The Tulane women's squad will travel to St. Mary's, Maryland, for the Women's ACC Semifinals hosted by St. Mary's College while the coed team will be in New London, Connecticut, racing for the Danmark Trophy hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The Green Wave finished fourth in the Women's ACC Semifinals and fifth for the Danmak Trophy last fall.
Tulane will return to the northeast the next weekend for the Coed ACC Semifinals hosted by Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts. and the Stu Nelson Trophy Women's Fleet Race hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut. Those regattas will be held October 7-8. The Wave landed sixth in both regattas during the fall 2022 campaign.
Up next from October 14-15, the Wave women's team will compete in the Women's ACC Finals hosted by Yale while the Tulane coed squad will be racing for the Nevins Trophy in Kings Point, New York. Tulane landed fourth the last time it competed for the Nevins Trophy in 2021 and finished 11th in the Women's ACC Finals in 2022.
The second home regatta of the fall on Lake Pontchartrain will be the Baldwin Wood Open and Women's Fleet Races on October 21-22. Meanwhile, Tulane will also race in the Coed ACC Finals the same weekend in St. Mary's, Maryland. The Wave cruised in the Baldwin Wood Open Fleet Race last fall claiming the top three spots in the regatta. In the Coed ACC Finals Tulane finished 16th overall in 2022.
In the final weekend of October, the Green Wave will return to Austin, Texas, for the SEISA Fall Championships. The regatta will be hosted by the University of Texas on Lake Travis October 28-29. Tulane won the SEISA Fall Championships again in 2022 for the third consecutive year.
The ICSA Match Race Nationals hosted by College of Charleston will be held from November 3-5 in Charleston, South Carolina. Last fall Tulane finished fifth in the ICSA Match Race Championship in San Diego, California.
Finally, Tulane will conclude the fall slate by hosting the ICSA Singlehanded Championships on Lake Pontchartrain on November 11-12. Thad Lettsome represent Tulane in the 2022 ICSA Singlehanded Championships where he finished sixth out of 18 sailors.
