Andalucía, Spain – Former Tulane golfer Gemma Dryburgh will make her Solheim Cup debut for Team Europe in Andalucía, Spain from September 18-24 after being named as one of Suzann Pettersen's four captain's picks.
"It's been a dream of mine since I was a little girl watching the Solheim growing up," said Dryburgh. "It just gives me goosebumps thinking back to that moment and to be part of Team Europe means so much."
Dryburgh will make her debut in the 18th Solheim Cup alongside a list of 12 athletes who will also compete for Team Europe as they face Team USA. The athletes are selected based on the Europe Solheim Cup standings, in which the top seven automatically qualify, and the Rolex Women's World Golf Ranking, in which the top two are selected. In addition to the automatic qualifiers, the captain of each team is allowed three picks to round out the team.
"What an amazing achievement to be selected to represent Europe in this year's Solheim Cup," said Tulane head coach Andrea Kaelin. "Gemma's playing career at Tulane and her continued success on tour has paved the way for this incredible opportunity. She has proven she belongs to compete with the best in the world and we can't wait to cheer her on from NOLA! Roll Wave!"
Since graduating in 2015, Dryburgh has recorded five top-10 finishes in the LPGA Tour, including three top-10 finishes in 2022. She finished last season as the No. 1 ranked Scottish Female Professional Golfer after winning the 2022 TOTO Japan Classic on LPGA Tour.
At Tulane, Dryburgh was a four-year letter winner and three-time All-Louisiana selection. She has a seat among the top Tulane golfers in history as holds the second highest career scoring average (74.33) and the school record for the lowest 54-hole round (208, -8). The latter round came in the 2012 fall opener at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational and the 2015 UCF Challenge.
