Sep 19, 2023 | Cross Country
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane senior Bradley Makuvire was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Athlete of the Week for the first time in his Green Wave career after his second top-two finish of the season.
Makuvire ran a 23:27.70 in the 8k race at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama, to finish second overall at the meet. His effort also helped the Wave finish sixth in a stacked field that included No. 23 Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, and Ole Miss.
The Tulane women posted a third-place finish at the Southern Showcase over the weekend behind three top-20 finishes from Lily Bell, Gemma Rebollo, and Danna Diaz.
This marks the second week of the season a Tulane athlete has earned AAC Athlete of the Week. Rebollo garnered the honor on September 5 after winning the UNO XC Opener to begin the 2023 campaign.
Up next, the Green Wave will return to action Friday, September 29, for the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
