
The Green Wave Will Take on USF to Open Up Conference Play

The Tulane University volleyball team will open American Athletic Conference play when they travel to Tampa, FL to take on the University of South Florida.Â

At the Tulane Invitational
To wrap up the non-conference portion of the season, the Green Wave hosted the Tulane Invitational and took on UTEP (L, 0-3), Clemson (L, 0-3) , and Houston Christian (L, 1-3).Â
Freshman outside hitter, Avery Burks, led Tulane in kills over the weekend averaging 3.2 K/S and was tied for second on the team in digs averaging 3.30 D/S.Â
Statistical Leaders:Â
The Green Wave still ranks top 15 nationally in blocks per set. Tulane comes in 14th after the weekend, averaging 2.80 blocks per set.Â
The Green Wave's blocking prowess is led by middle blocker, Sabrina Skyers. The sophomore leads the AAC and is ranked 12th nationally averaging 1.51 blocks per set.Â
Graduate libero, Lauryn Burrows, is second in the AAC in digs averaging 4.95 digs per set.Â
Burks finds herself within the top five rankings in points and kills per set. The freshman is averaging 3.42 K/S this season and 3.89 P/S which places her at number five in the AAC in both categories.
USF Match Up:Â
USF enters conference play with a 6-5 record. The Green Wave and the Bulls have a common opponent this season in Alabama A&M. Both teams swept the Bulldogs, 3-0.Â
USF and Tulane have an extensive history of playing each other. The Bulls lead the series record, 12-31.Â
Last season, the Green Wave played USF twice and defeated them both times (3-1 and 3-0).Â
