
Volleyball Set to Host North Texas in Conference Home Opener

The Tulane University volleyball team will look to get their first conference win when they host the Mean Green of North Texas on Saturday, 9/23, and Sunday, 9/24.
Game Notes
At USF:
The Green Wave traveled to UCF in its conference opener on 9/20. Tulane lost in a nail-biting five-set match (25-21, 23-25, 16-25, 26-24, 9-15).
Setter/right-side hitter, Katherine Crosely, led the way offensively for the Green Wave and had a career-best match. The sophomore had 13 kills while hitting .545. She also had three blocks.
Graduate defensive specialist, who is also one of Tulane's go-to servers, Savannah Perry also had a career-best match from the serving line. Perry had six service aces.
Freshman middle blocker, Jordan White, saw more playing time in the match than previously in the season.. She led the Green Wave in blocks with eight which helped Tulane with their 15 total blocks in the match.
AAC Statistical Leaders:
The Green Wave moved up in the national rankings in blocks per set. It currently sits at 12th nationally averaging 2.83 blocks per set. They remain first in the AAC in blocks per set.
Middle blocker, Sabrina Skyers, is a large reason for Tulane's blocking prowess. The sophomore ranks 12th nationally and first in the AAC averaging 1.51 blocks per set. Graduate middle blocker, Orsula Staka, is fourth in the AAC rankings averaging 1.23 blocks per set.
Graduate libero, Lauryn Burrows, remains in the second position in the AAC in digs averaging 4.93 digs per set.
Perry is ranked third in the service aces per set category averaging 0.46.
Freshman Avery Burks continues to find herself in the top five of the AAC kills per set. ranks. The outside hitter is averaging 3.28 kills per set.
North Texas Match Up:
The Mean Green is one of the many newcomers that have joined the AAC conference. In their first-ever AAC conference match, they took on the Owls of Florida Atlantic and swept them, 3-0.
Tulane and North Texas have a common 2023 non-conference opponent in Stephen F. Austin. Both teams were defeated by the Lumberjacks. Tulane was defeated in four sets and Stephen F. Austin was defeated in five.
The Mean Green and the Green Wave have not played each other since 2013. North Texas leads the series with a record of 2-4.
