
Tulane Volleyball Bested By North Texas

The Green Wave volleyball team fell to North Texas, 3-0, in their second conference game of the 2023 season.ย
Freshman outside hitter, Avery Burks, led Tulane offensively finishing the match with 11 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Right-side hitter, Agata Beksha, played a career-best match against the Mean Green. The redshirt sophomore finished with eight kills.ย
In the first set, Tulane scored the first two points and continued leading North Texas at, 5-4. However, the Mean Green scored five unanswered points to take the lead. Tulane came within one at 13-12, but North Texas was able to maintain their lead for the remainder of the set besting the Green Wave, 25-19.
The Green Wave kept it closer in the second set tying North Texas at 7-7. The Mean Green scored three back-to-back points that lengthened the deficit. However, Tulane was not yet defeated and came back within one at 18-17. The Mean Green kept their momentum and claimed the set, 25-21.
In the final set, the Green Wave led for a longer period of time than the previous two and had a solid start running the score up, 10-4. They maintained their lead until a late comeback effort by North Texas. The Mean Green was able to tie the score up at 20-20. They kept the momentum with the Green Wave nipping at their heels and finished the match with a close 25-23 final score.
