
The Green Wave Falls to North Texas After a Late Comeback Attempt

On Sunday, September 24th, the Tulane women's volleyball team dropped their final match against North Texas, 3-1.
Sophomore right-side hitter, Katherine Crosley, led the Green Wave offensively finishing the match with 11 kills. Following closely behind, was freshman outside hitter, Avery Burks. Burks had 10 kills in the match. Freshman middle blocker, Jordan White, had a career-best match versus North Texas earning 4 kills.
Defensively, graduate libero Lauryn Burrows finished the match with 21 digs, and sophomore middle blocker, Sabrina Skyers had six assisted blocks in the match.
The Green Wave was rolling at the beginning of the first set and went off to a quick 5-0 lead with help from back-to-back service aces from graduate defensive specialist, Savannah Perry. The strong and athletic North Texas team kept composure and scored three back-to-back to remain at Tulane's heels. The Green Wave led for a majority of the first set until North Texas was able to tie them at 15-15. The remainder of the set was back and forth but North Texas came out on top, 25-20.
The second set was dominated from the beginning by North Texas. Tulane was tied with the Mean Green at 2-2, but North Texas scored three unanswered and controlled the momentum for the remainder of the set. The Mean Green came out on top, 25-19.
Tulane was undiscouraged and controlled the third set from the beginning. After tying the score at 3-3, the Green Wave went on an 8-2 scoring run. Tulane kept their dominance and led for the remainder of the set by two or more points. The Green Wave forced a fourth set, 25-18.
The fourth set was not dominated by either team early on and was back and forth until, 12-12. The Mean Green has two back-to-back points and led for the remainder. They took the set and the game, 25-19.
Tulane will continue their American Athletic Conference play on Friday when they travel to take on Temple.
