Tulane Heads to Temple for Another Conference Opportunity

The Green Wave Volleyball team is on the hunt for their first conference win when they head to Philadelphia to take on Temple Friday, September, 29th.ย

Last weekend versus UNT
The Green Wave volleyball team fell to North Texas in their second and third conference matches of the 2023 season. In Saturday's match, the Mean Green came out on top 3-0, and in Sunday's match, 3-1.ย
Outside hitter, Avery Burks, led Tulane offensively on Saturday, finishing the match with 11 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. On Sunday the freshman had 10 kills.
Sunday, sophomore right-side hitter, Katherine Crosley, led the Green Wave offensively finishing the match with 11 kills. Right-side hitter, Agata Beksha, played a career-best match against the Mean Green on Saturday. The redshirt sophomore finished with eight kills.
Numbers Don't Lie:ย
Tulane is on top in the AAC in team blocks per set averaging 2.78.
Middle blocker, Sabrina Skyers, is a large reason for Tulane's blocking prowess. The sophomore ranks 12th nationally and first in the AAC averaging 1.48 blocks per set.ย
Graduate middle blocker, Orsula Staka, is fourth in the AAC rankings averaging 1.20 blocks per set.ย
Graduate libero, Lauryn Burrows, remains in the second position in the AAC in digs averaging 4.86 digs per set.ย
Graduate defensive specialist, Savannah Perry is ranked third in the service aces per set category averaging 0.48.ย
Freshman, outside hitter,ย Avery Burks is averaging 3.24 kills per set. which places her sixth in the AAC.ย
Temple Match Up:ย
The Owls are off to a 10-4 start to the season and are currently 1-2 in the AAC. Temple faced off against FAU last weekend. In the first match, FAU came out on top, 3-1. In the second match, Temple came out on top 3-1.ย
The Owls and the Green Wave have a long history as conference foes. The series record is currently split 7-7.ย
Last season, Temple came out on top in both matches played. Each match went to five sets.ย
