
Green Wave Splits for Two Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing team will send its coed and women's teams to separate regattas this weekend for the first time this fall. The Green Wave coed squad will be in New London, Connecticut, for the Danmark Trophy Open Fleet Race while the women's team will race in the Atlantic Coast Women's Championships Round 1B in St. Mary's, Maryland. Both regattas will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 30-October 1.

Tulane finished fifth out of 19 teams at the Danmark Trophy Open Fleet Race and landed fourth out of 18 in the ACC Women's Championships Round 1A last fall.

In the race for the Danmark Trophy this weekend the Green Wave will compete among 19 other teams on the water. Included in the field will be the defending open dinghy national champions the Stanford Cardinal along with 13 other teams, including Tulane, that raced for the national championship in the spring.

The roster for the Green Wave for the Danmark Trophy this weekend will feature Thad Lettsome racing with Hope Breslin in the A Division and Hamilton Barclay with CJ Ricci in the B Division. The alternates for Tulane will be Kelly Holthus, Zander King, Alex Makoid, and Gillian Perrell.

Racing for the Danmark Trophy will begin at 10:10 a.m. CT/11:10 a.m. ET on Saturday and 9/10 a.m. on Sunday on the Thames River.

The ACC Women's Championships Round 1B will feature 18 total teams including the Green Wave. Among the teams in the regatta will be defending women's national champion Stanford and eight teams, including the Wave, that competed in the 2023 national championship.

Racing for Tulane for the ACC Women's Championships will be Sammie Gardner with Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez in the A Division and Caroline Benson with Ellie Spearman in the B Division. The alternates for the Green Wave will be Abigail Borggaard, Oakley Cunningham, Mia Hanes, and Sloane Mullin.

In St. Mary's, Maryland, racing for the ACC Women's Championships will start at 8:40/9:40 a.m. on Saturday followed by 8:30/9:30 a.m. Sunday on the St. Mary's River.
