
Track & Field’s Danna Diaz Just Misses School Record in Finishing Fourth in the 3000m at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet

Louisville, Kentucky – Danna Diaz just missed the school record in the 3000m to highlight the action for the Tulane women's indoor track and field program during the second day of the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet at the Norton Sports and Learning Center on Saturday. The team tallied a total of 12 personal records on the day.
Diaz ran 9:34.45 in the 3000m to set a personal record in the event and miss setting the school record by just .07 seconds. Her time ranks her No. 2 all-time at Tulane behind former CUSA Athlete of the Decade and All-American Hanne Lyngstad. Diaz placed fourth overall in the event and currently ranks among the top-50 in the NCAA. Also placing in the top-10 of the 3000m was Paula Vaquera. Vaquera ran a personal record 9:49.29 to finish eighth.
Diaz also finished third in the mile with a personal record 4:54.96. Reese Ragland earned sixth in in the mile with a personal record 4:58.36. Sophia McNerney took seventh with a 4:58.345. Vaquera finished eighth with a personal record 5:00.81. Janae Dean picked up 10th with her personal record 5:03.52.
Anna Schadel also placed in the top-10 in taking seventh in the 800m (2:17.76).
Other personal record and season bests set on the day include: Norah Bice in the shot put (11.65m/38'02.25"), Kaia Todd in the shot put (10.84m/35'06.75), Sofie Groeninger in the shot put (12.51m/41'00.50"), Bella Gonzalez in the shot put (11.51m/37'09.25"), Abigail Heck in the 400m (58.60), Elena Liano-Rengel in the 400m (58.76), Alex Sharp in the 3000m (10:42.32) and the 4x400m relay team of Laura Fodor, Heck, Liano-Rengel and Schadel (3:56.13)
Next, Tulane heads to the Samford Open and Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama next week from Jan. 18-19.
