Volleyball Clinches First Conference Win Against UAB

NEW ORLEANS โ Tulane Volleyball secured its first AAC win after beating the University of Alabama Birmingham Wednesday evening in straight sets. Both the Green Wave and Blazers were 0-2 in conference play heading into the match, but Tulane decisively shut out UAB 25-18, 25-19, and 25-20.ย
Avery Burks led the Wave with nine kills, including a dig-turned-kill made during the first set. Ava Derbes kept up her success streak, hitting .455 from 7 kills on 11 attempts. The Green Wave landed 10 team blocks, while Agata Beksha put up three solo blocks.ย
Zoe Rachow reached 700 career assists, giving 14 to bring her total to 711. Annabelle He achieved 303 career digs after playing against UAB and also landed three service aces.ย ย
Sami Jacobs had a stunning four service aces; she now has the most service aces in the conference with 24 and is ranked 4th in aces per set. Sabrina Skyers offered two block assists, which brings her to 50 total for the 2024 season.ย

Tulane will host the University of Tulsa on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. On Wednesday, Oct. 9, they will visit the University of Texas, San Antonio for a 6:00 p.m. match.
