Bowling Ranked Third in Tournament After Southern Queens Day One

BATON ROUGE – Tulane Bowling commenced its second outing of the season today at the Southern Queens tournament in Baton Rouge. The Green Wave ended the first day ranked third in the tournament after playing in four matches, having won three and losing one.
The Green Wave opened the tournament against Morgan State and beat the Bears 802-788. Tulane won the first, third, and fifth games against Morgan State 156-140, 150-141, and 179-158. The Bears won the second and fourth 166-147 and 183-170.Â
Next, the Wave took on tournament host Southern University and defeated them 869-801. The Green Wave won the second, fourth, and fifth games 147-146, 189-130, and 176-141. The Jaguars won games one and three 206-192 and 178-165.
In match three, Tulane played the University of Alabama Birmingham, whom they bested 946-942. The Wave won games two, four, and five 237-182, 202-188, and 203-166. The Hornets won games one and three 200-164 and 206-140.Â
Tulane had a bye for match four but took on Sam Houston in match five, where they were toppled 1011-868. The Bearkats beat the Green Wave in all five games with scores of 209-170, 192-166, 187-162, 159-157, and 264-213.
Tulane totaled 4,466 points during the day and is currently in third place behind first-place Sam Houston (4,731 points) and second-place UAB (4482 points).
Tomorrow, the Wave will start at 9:30 a.m. and play against Texas Southern, Alabama State, Grambling State, and Jackson State.Â
