Wave Women Gear Up for AAC Title Defense, Men Chase First Title
Oct 31, 2024 | Cross Country
WICHITA, Ks. - The Tulane cross country program looks to defend its women's title and contend for its first men's title at the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championship, held this Friday on the Clapp Cross Country Course in Wichita, Kansas.
"I told the team today that regardless of what could happen on paper, it's more important to make history than it is to write history," director of cross country / track & field Adrian Myers said. "So we just need to do what we are capable of."
The meet begins with the women's 6k at 4:05 p.m. CT, followed by the men's race at 4:50 p.m. CT, with award ceremonies scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The top 15 finishers will be named All-Conference.
Fans can watch the races live on ESPN+ and follow live results HERE.
For the women's team, competing runners include Danna Diaz, Lili Grant, Allison Hall, Caroline Jeptanui, Blezzin Kimutai, Lily Porth, Reese Ragland, Alex Sharp, and Paula Vaquera.
"The women stand a great opportunity to defend last year's championship," Myers said. "It's a lot of work to win, but it's more work to then defend. Our women are up for the challenge and look forward to getting on the line tomorrow."
Representing the men's team will be Ryan Adkins, Jordan Bendura, Bernard Cheruiyot, Juan Giron, Jack Jennings, Illia Kunin, Paul Law, Tucker Poshard, and Wondu Summa.
"Our men have really banded together with big common aspirations," Myers said. "We have the right men in the room to stand toe to toe with anyone and slug it out. We look forward to the opportunity ahead of us to continue shaking up the landscape of NCAA men's cross country."
