Swimming & Diving Records 35 Season Bests Against Houston and LSU on Saturday
Nov 2, 2024 | Women's Swimming and Diving
HOUSTON – The Tulane swimming and diving team continued the program's strong road weekend on Saturday in a dual meet against both Houston and LSU on Saturday. The team totaled 35 season bests, 13 NIC bonus cuts, 14 top-10 school marks, a school record and nine top-three finishes at the meet at the CRWC Natatorium. The team lost to Houston 187-113 and to LSU 231-69 in dual meet action in the pool.
"The swimmers were great," Coach Amanda Caldwell explained. "We had countless number of lifetime best performances, all-time top 10 performances, cuts for Open Water, NIC, and US Open. The work they have been putting in so far this semester really showed up and looked so much smoother in the water today. A lot to be proud of and ready to push through another 2.5 weeks of work before midseason. The divers took on a tough challenge of competing against some of the best divers in the region. A good way to prepare for our midseason meet in a few weeks."
The meet was highlighted for the Green Wave by Catherine Russo setting the school record in the 50 free with a time of 22.73. The mark also is an NIC bonus cut, US Open Water qualifier and is the top mark in the event in the AAC this season.
