
Tulane Hosts Dillard to Close Non-Conference Slate

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will close out its non-conference schedule on Friday night when it hosts Dillard inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave has won each of its last two non-conference finales including a victory over the Bleu Devils last season.

The matchup between the Wave and the Bleu Devils set to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket with Paul Boron or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the seventh all-time regular season meeting between Tulane and Dillard with the Green Wave leading the series 4-2 including wins in the last two matchups. The Wave defeated Dillard 94-64 at home last season on Dec. 29, 2023. The last time Tulane lost to Dillard came at home on Feb. 19, 1975, by a final score of 94-96.

So far this season at home the Green Wave holds a 5-2 record while averaging 78.9 points per game on 43.8 percent shooting from the field. Tulane has been better defensively in Uptown this season holding opponents to 62.3 points per contest and 28.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

In its last time out, junior Kaleb Banks led Tulane with a career performance in a losing effort against Florida State, 64-77, in the AutoNation Orange Bowl Basketball Classic in Sunrise, Florida, on December 14. Banks set career-highs in points and rebounds as he recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 33 points and 16 boards. Rowan Brumbaugh joined Banks as the only players in double figures scoring 15 to mark ninth game this season with at least 10 points.

Dillard enters the matchup with a 7-5 record after defeating Talladega 66-64 on Monday, December 16. The Bleu Devils are 1-1 so far this season in true road games. Dillard is averaging 75.5 points on 41.9 percent shooting in those contests.

Four players are averaging double figures in scoring for Dillard so far this season. Tory Cargo leads the Bleu Devils with 15.1 points per game followed by Bentravin Phillips with 13.9 per game. Rounding out the leaders for Dillard are Khalif Allim at 12.3 points per game and Armond Williams with 10.7.

Following the matchup against Dillard, the Green Wave will open American Athletic Conference play on the road versus Charlotte on Tuesday, December 31. The game between Tulane and the 49ers is scheduled to tipoff at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
