Wave to Welcome Southern Miss to Uptown Tuesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will look to bounce back into the win column and snap its five-game losing streak hosts Southern Miss in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse Tuesday night. The Green Wave has not lost three non-conference home games since the 2018-19 campaign.

The game between the Wave and the Golden Eagles is set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 82nd all-time regular season meeting between Tulane and Southern Miss with the Green Wave leading the series 44-37 including wins in the last four matchups. The Wave has also won the last two meetings in Uptown holding a 25-14 advantage over the Golden Eagles at home. The last time Tulane lost to Southern Miss was March 6, 2014, by a final score of 51-68 at home.

In its last time out, Tulane lost its fifth consecutive game falling 64-76 on the road against George Mason on Saturday, December 7. Despite claiming the lead to begin the contest, the Green Wave was unable to hold off the Patriots and came up short in its attempt to rally in the second half. Four players finished with double figures in scoring for the Wave as Rowan Brumbaugh led the team with 12 points while Kaleb Banks, Gregg Glenn III, and Mari Jordan each had 11. Glenn III also pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds to notch his second double-double of the season.

So far this season in Uptown the Wave holds a 4-2 record averaging 77.7 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting from the field. Tulane has outscored its opponents by an average of 14.7 points per game through six home contests. Banks has thrived in Uptown averaging 19.2 points per game at home compared to 9.3 points per contest away from home.

Southern Miss enters the matchup on a two-game winning streak after defeating Alabama State 81-64 on December 5 to improve to 4-4 on the season. The Golden Eagles have been one of the top offenses in the Sun Belt so far this season leading the league in scoring at 77.6 points per game and assists with 15.5 per game.

Denijay Harris leads a trio of players averaging double figures for the Golden Eagles this season. Harris paces the team in points and rebounds averaging 15.0 and 9.1 per contest while Neftali Alvarez and Christian Watson add 12.8 and 10.8 points per game, respectively.

Following the matchup against Southern Miss, the Green Wave will travel to Sunrise, Florida, to face Florida State in the AutoNation Orange Bowl Basketball Classic. The game between Tulane and the Seminoles will be played at Amerant Bank Arena and is scheduled to tipoff at 3:30 p.m. CT on  ACC Network.
