Wave Tangles with Tigers Sunday Afternoon

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (13-9, 4-6) will aim for the regular season sweep of Memphis (17-6, 6-4) for the second year in a row when it battles the Tigers on Sunday in the FedEx Forum. The Green Wave have only swept the regular season series against Memphis twice in program history – 2023 and 1983.

The game between the Green Wave and the Tigers is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN2. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with Paul Boron filling in for the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 76th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Tigers with Tulane trailing in the series 14-61. Tulane defeated Memphis in the first meeting this season 81-79 in New Orleans on January 21. The Wave holds a 4-34 record against the Tigers in Memphis including a 90-89 in the last matchup in the FedEx Forum on February 4, 2023.

In its last time out, Tulane snapped a three-game losing streak after holding on to outlast Temple in overtime 92-80 in New Orleans on Sunday. The Green Wave shot 31-of-35, 88.6 percent, from the free throw line including 24 consecutive makes to end the game. As a team, Tulane also connected at 54.7 percent clip from the field and tallied 48 points in the paint against the Owls.

The duo of Kevin Cross and Collin Holloway led the way for the Wave each posting 20-point performances. Cross finished with 27 points while Holloway added 21 points.

In true road games so far this season Tulane holds a 2-4 record including a 1-4 mark in league play. The Green Wave averages 78.7 points per game on the road on 45.2 percent shooting from the field.

Memphis enters the matchup with a 17-6 overall record and a 6-4 mark in conference play after defeating Temple 84-77 in Philadelphia on February 8. The Tigers are 9-2 at home this season including a 2-2 record in league play and average 79.8 points per game at the FedEx Forum.

The Tigers lead the American in blocks and steals per game paced by Malcolm Dandridge with 1.57 blocks per game and David Jones at 2.17 steals per game. Jones leads the conference in scoring averaging 21.87 points and leads Memphis in rebounding at 6.96 boards per game.

Following the game at Memphis, the Green Wave will return to Uptown to host SMU on Thursday, February 15. The game between Tulane and the Mustangs is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
