
Green Wave Hosts SMU Mustangs Thursday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (13-10, 4-7) will look to avenge its loss from two weeks prior as it hosts the SMU Mustangs (17-7, 8-3) in Uptown Thursday night. The last time the Green Wave was swept in the regular season series against SMU was during the 2021-22 campaign.

The game between the Green Wave and the Mustangs is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 45th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Mustangs with Tulane trailing in the series 18-26. Tulane dropped the first meeting against SMU this season 80-76 in Dallas on February 1. The Wave holds a 14-8 record against the Mustangs at home including a 74-52 win in the last matchup in Uptown on February 1, 2023.

In its last time out, Tulane dropped its second meeting of the season against Memphis 90-78 on February 11 to split the season series. The Green Wave was unable to overcome a slow start despite outscoring the Tigers in the second half. Six players scored double figures for the Wave in Memphis led by Collin Holloway with 16 points. As a team, Tulane knocked down 10 threes in the game marking the ninth time this season the Wave has made at least 10 shots from downtown.

At home this season the Green Wave holds a 10-3 overall record including a 3-2 mark in conference play. Tulane is averaging 89.5 points on 51.0 percent shooting from the field in games played in Uptown.

The Wave currently leads the American Athletic Conference in scoring offense, field goal percentage, free throws made per game, free throws attempted per game, and turnover margin. Tulane is the only team in the only team in the league with six players averaging at least 10 points per game.

SMU enters the matchup on a four-game winning streak after defeating North Texas 71-68 at home Sunday. The Mustangs hold a 17-7 overall record and an 8-3 mark in conference play.
