COMPLETE RESULTS
DALLAS – Tulane's Swimming and Diving Program completed its third day of action at the American Athletic Conference Championships.
Â
The day had a total of 11 lifetime bests, seven new All-Time Top 10 performances, and one new school record as the entire roster continued its trend of individual improvement on Saturday.
Â
"From the 100 Backs in prelims all recording lifetime bests in the morning, a wave started", said head coach Amanda Caldwell. "The divers carried it into the Platform event with two in the B final and two more lifetime bests.Â
Â
Then the Finals started and it was like no one wanted to be the one who let that wave crash. The energy as they each came up before their race just showed how much they all wanted to keep it going. I cannot recall a swim session like this in my coaching career … definitely not in my head coaching career … to see every athlete PR and move up at night after such amazing performances in the morning.Â
Â
Tomorrow is the last day and what I would say are our best events. We are looking forward to keeping this rolling into the last two sessions."
Â
Freshman Victoria Raymond shattered her 100 Fly record twice on Saturday. During the prelims, she went 52.27 and followed it with a 51.70 in the finals to claim second place in the event. That mark is now the 20th-fastest time nationally. Olcaytu Hatipoglu (55.13) also posted a lifetime-best in the event and a time that is the ninth-best in Tulane's records. Eleanor McMeen (56.14) had a personal-best in the morning, as did Andrea Zeebe (58.79) and Quinlan Hinerfeld (1:00.11).
Â
The Wave was extremely active in the 100 Back on Saturday, as Caldwell noted above. Hinerfeld (54.22, third-fastest Tulane mark), Zeebe (54.93, sixth-fastest) and Grace Dale (55.09, seventh-fastest) all recorded lifetime bests, National Invitational Championship bonus cuts and significantly dented the school's record book.
Â
In the 100 Breast, Paula Gaya Bisquerra also achieved a lifetime best in the event with her time of 1:03.06. Bisquerra's time is fifth in the All-Time Top Ten and qualified for the NIC Bonus Cut. With her time of 1:03.93, Emma Brady achieved a Tulane best and is 10th on the school's all-time top ten. Finally, Natalia Strongyli also achieved a lifetime best (1:05.53) in the morning session.
Â
Zeebe and Gwen Shahboz achieved lifetime bests in the 400 IM with their times of 4:19.23 and 4:20.13 and, respectively. Zeebe's time is sixth in the school's records, while Shahboz's mark is seventh. Both qualified for NIC Bonus Cut.Â
Â
The 400 Medley Relay team of Hinerfeld, Bisquerra, Raymond and Dale snuck into Tulane's records with the tenth fastest performance Tulane history with their time of 3:42.71 and qualified for NIC Bonus Cut.Â
Â
In the platform dive, Anna Behrman and Taylor Cekay achieved lifetime bests—Behrman with a score of 180.25 and Cekay recorded a 99.4. Behrman's mark is eighth in the school's records.
Â
As a team, Tulane currently sits in sixth with 242 points.
