No. 13 Bowling Heads to Texas for the ITC Sectional Qualifier This Week

New Orleans –The No. 13 ranked Tulane University bowling team is on the road and heads to Fort Worth, Texas for the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) Sectional Qualifier this weekend from March 8-10.
The ITC Sectional Qualifier Competition is contested from March 9-10 in one of four locations nationally - Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan; Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tennessee; Stardust Bowl in Addison, Illinois and Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas. Tulane was selected to participate at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas.
The singles competition, which takes place before the team competition, starts on March 8 and goes from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for six games that evening. Those that are participating this year in the singles for the Green Wave are Katharina Mente, Cassidy Williams, Kristen Derr, Morgan Gitlitz, Juanelyz Solla, Linnea Holcomb, Mia Stolakis, Emma Fetterman and Yarelis Alvarez.
The team competition begins on March 9. The first of four sessions is from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and is a four-four game Baker Blocks. The second session is from 1:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. is again four-four game Baker Blocks. The next day, March 10, goes from 7:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. with the four-four game Baker Blocks. The fourth and final session is from 1 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. with the four-four game Baker Blocks. The final block is a position round. The awards presentation will be on the final day from 4:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
The teams that are competing along with Tulane in the ITC Fort Worth Sectional is Newman, UAB, Baker, Ottawa University, Louisiana Tech, Wichita State, Barton Community College, Lindenwood, St. Ambrose, William Woods, Spring Hill, Oklahoma Christian, William Penn, Morningside and Midway.
Qualifying play will consist of 16 – four-game Baker sets for a total of 64 Baker games. Games 61-64 will be a position round. The women will be using lanes 37-58 during the competition. Each team will bowl 4 Baker games on one pair of lanes. Games one and two will be on one lane and games three and four will be on the other lane.
Tulane is in the following lanes during the tournament in the team competition: Round 1 (38), Round 2 (54), Round 3 (50), Round 4 (48), Round 5 (41), Round 6 (57), Round 7 (56), Round 8 (43), Round 9 (49), Round 10 (47), Round 11 (37), Round 13 (58), Round 14 (53), Round 15 (44).

Last time out at the Stallings Invitational from Feb. 23-25 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the program finished 10th overall with a 7-6 record. The team totaled 12,383 pins and averaged 190.5 pins. Mia Stolakis was the team's top finisher in 22nnd with 999 pins and her average of 199.80.
Tulane was recently chosen by CUSA to host the 2024 Bowling Championships at Colonial Lanes from March 21-24. This will be the eighth time that Tulane has hosted a conference championship. The entire championship tournament will be streamed live on ESPN+.
On the season, Kristen Derr has the team's most pins at 9,315 and average at 202.5. Derr also has the highest game on the squad as she rolled a 280 at the Stormin' Blue and White Classic.
This year's Tulane roster features six returners in Morgan Gitlitz, Yarelis Alvarez, Sofiia Druchyna, Katharina Mente, Mia Stolakis, Cassidy Williams plus four newcomers in Juanelyz Solla, Emma Fetterman, Kristen Derr and Linnea Holcomb. Stolakis became the first Tulane bowler to ever qualify for the Junior USA Team with her performance at US Team Trials from Jan. 2-7.
Following this weekend's action, the next time the program is back on the lanes is from March 15-17 at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn. at the Smyrna Bowling Center
