
Track and Field’s Illia Kunin Runs School’s No. 2 1500 Mark at Bryan Clay Invitational

Azusa, California – Illia Kunin ran the school's second-best 1500m mark of all-time at the Bryan Clay Invitational to highlight the action for Tulane's track and field program on Saturday night from Azusa, California on the campus of Azusa Pacific. The team totaled three top-10 school marks on day and seven on the weekend.
Kunin's run of 3:44.97 places him second all-time in the record book just ahead of Aaron Gilliam's mark of 3:45.27 set last season and just behind Amos Kipyegon's run of 3:40.51 set during the 1998 campaign. Kunin also finished fifth overall in the event.
Danna Diaz had a run of 4:26.99 in the women's 1500m. The time placed her in fifth all-time at the school.
Paula Vaquera placed second in the open B portion of the women's 1500m with a 4:29.94. The run ranks her 10th all-time in the school record book. Also recording a near top-10 mark in the event was Elena Liano-Rengel. Liano-Rengel ran a 4:29.98 to rank at No. 11 at Tulane. She had originally reached the top-10 at the point of her completed run, but moved down a spot following Vaquera's performance.
The women's 1500m also saw Reese Ragland run a 4:34.14, while Anna Schadel put up a 4:34.66.
In the men's 5000m, Albert Tawil-Brown set a personal best of 14:53.62. In the women's javelin, Kara Schiek placed 30th with a 37.02m/121'5".
The men's 4x400m relay team of Zander Dunbar, Jalen St. Fort, Roman Schrader, Sam Cohen and Parker Orlowsky had a run of 3:21.48 to finish 18th in the event.
The program will again compete in multiple competitions next week. The program participates in the Wake Forest Invitational on April 19 in North Carolina and the Jim Green Invitational in Kentucky from April 19-20.
