
Tulane Moves on to ICSA Open Fleet National Championship Finals

BOSTON – Tulane University sailing finished sixth out of 18 teams in the ICSA Open Fleet Race Eastern Semifinals on Saturday to earn a spot in the national championship finals beginning on Sunday. The Green Wave won three races in the semifinals and recorded 13 finishes in the top five in the two-day regatta.

Tulane closed the semifinal with a total of 260 after posting an 86 on Saturday in the final five rotations on the Charles River. With the performance the Wave clinched a spot in the open fleet race finals for the fourth consecutive season.

The B Division led the way in the semifinals for the Green Wave landing fourth in the division with a total of 97. On Saturday Tulane added just 23 to its total in the B Division after recording a pair of wins and two fourth-place finishes. Overall, in the regatta the racing of Hamilton Barclay, Zander King, CJ Ricci, Brady Starck, and Alex Makoid posted top 10 finishes in 17 out of 18 races including 11 in the top five.

In the A Division Tulane closed with a total of 163 which rated 11th in the division. Thad Lettsome, Kelly Holthus, Hope Breslin, Gillian Perrell, Abigail Borggaard, Matheo Capasso, and Andrea-Riefkohl combined to record 12 finishes in the top 10 for the Wave including a pair in the top five.

The ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship finals will begin on Sunday from the Charles River in Boston. Racing is scheduled to start at approximately 9 a.m. CT.
