New Orleans – The Tulane University cross country program announced its 2024 competition schedule including seven regular season meets across the board, director of Cross Country / Track & Field Adrian Myers announced Friday.
"Each year, we continue to quickly elevate our competitiveness as a program," Coach Myers explained. "With that said, this year's schedule is in alignment with our ambitions. As we progress through the season, each competition should prepare us for next."
To kick off the season, Tulane will co-host the Battle for New Orleans with the UNO Privateers on Friday, Aug. 30, at Lake Oaks Park.
The Green Wave will then make the trip to College Station, Texas to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational on Friday, Sep. 13 at the Watts Cross Country Course.
Two weeks following, the team will head to Thibodaux for the Nicholls Invitational on Saturday, Sep. 28 hosted by Nicholls State.
The program will split athletes between two meets on Friday, Oct. 4. One squad will be sent to Chicago, Illinois for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational while the rest compete at the Lion-Up Invitational hosted by Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond.
The Olive and Blue will then race on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The last regular meet of the season will feature athletes at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
Postseason officially begins on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championships where the Tulane women will look to defend their title. The meet will be hosted by Wichita State on the Clapp Cross Country Course.
"After winning the Women's American Championship last fall, that crew looks to defend the title," Myers stated. "Our Men are set up to join them on that championship podium, which is exciting. Both programs have positioned themselves to be in the NCAA National Championship conversation this fall as well. Our schedule reflects those goals. We've reloaded the roster in recruiting and undeniably present a high quality group that will end this fall as one of the nation's elite. I can't wait to get rolling!"
The NCAA South Central Regional will take place in College Station, Texas on Nov. 15, while the NCAA National Championship occurs the following week in Madison, Wisconsin on Nov. 23.
