Volleyball to Host Pelican Invitational Sept. 19-21

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Volleyball is prepped to host its second home tournament of the season, the Pelican Invitational, from Sept. 19-21. At the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse, Tulane will take on three competitors: UC Riverside, Georgia State, and the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.Â
The Pelican Invitational stands as Tulane's fourth tournament in a row, the most recent one also being home (Green Wave Classic). The Green Wave is currently 5-4 for the season and is yet to start conference play.
Match 1: Tulane vs. UC Riverside – Thursday, Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m.Â
The Green Wave will kick off the tournament with a showdown against UC Riverside. The Green Wave contested the Highlanders once, in 2003, but fell. This weekend, they look to even the score.Â
Match 2: Tulane vs. Georgia State – Friday, Sept. 20, 7:00 p.m.Â
Next, Tulane faces Georgia State University. Tulane played the Panthers in 1990 and 1998, and they hope for a successful 21st-century interaction.Â
Match 3: Tulane vs. Arkansas Pine Bluff – Saturday, Sept. 21, 3:00 p.m.Â
Tulane will close out the tournament with a match against the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. The two have yet to play one another.Â
