Volleyball Defeats UC Riverside in Pelican Invitational Opener

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane volleyball commenced their second home tournament with a victory over UC Riverside. The Green Wave traded sets with the Highlanders before emerging victorious in the fifth set.
The Green Wave dominated the first set, winning 25-16 and kicking the match off strong. While Tulane fell in the second, they bounced back to clinch the third 25-22. Tulane then sealed the win in the fifth, beating the Highlanders 15-10.
Jordan White played a remarkable match, totaling nine kills and hitting .368. She also put up four block assists, including two in the first set. Avery Burks led the team in kills, securing 11, and putting up three block assists. Ava Derbes also had three block assists as well as a career-high eight kills.
Annabelle He had a new career high in digs, totaling 23 during the match, the most of anyone on the team. Sabrina Skyers registered nine kills and had a stunning third set, delivering four kills and hitting .571. She also contributed an impressive five block assists.
Katherine Crosley had 23 assists, Zoe Rachow had 20, and both delivered two service aces. Sami Jacobs also provided two aces and 20 digs.
UP NEXT
Tulane will take on Georgia State tomorrow, Sept. 20, at 7:00. On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Green Wave will face the University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff at 3:00 p.m.
