Volleyball Defeats San Diego State in Tournament Closer

SAN DIEGO – Tulane Volleyball concluded their weekend tenure in Southern California with a triumphant win over San Diego State today. The Aztecs had been undefeated for the duration of the tournament, but the Green Wave interfered and claimed their second win of the invitational.
The first set was back and forth, with the teams trading points to maintain a close score throughout the set. Tulane came out of the gate invigorated and unfazed by their previous match, and the set culminated in a comeback from a match point. San Diego native Zoe Rachow served the final point, as she claimed an ace for point number 28, beating out SDSU's 26.
Tulane continued the momentum during the second set, winning 25-21 and exhibiting incredible chemistry. SDSU came back to win the third set, but Tulane once again triumphed in the fourth and beat their opponent on their home turf 26-24.
Jordan White was a force on the court, hitting .556 with 11 kills, along with five block assists. Agata Beksha landed four block assists, and Sabrina Skyers had three. Sami Jacobs led in kills once again, providing 18 to the Tulane offense. Avery Burks followed with 13 overall and five in the second set alone.
Rachow provided 25 assists throughout the game, and another 21 were delivered by Katherine Crosley. Annabelle He registered a pair of incredible one-handed digs to keep the defense locked down.
UP NEXT
For their final match of the tournament, the Green Wave will take on the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 5:00 p.m. They will host their first home tournament, the Tulane Invitational, from Sept. 13-15.
