Sep 13, 2024 | Women's Volleyball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Volleyball played its first home match this evening against Mississippi State, kicking off the Green Wave Classic as well as a seven-match home stand. While Tulane ultimately fell to the Bulldogs, it put up an incredible fight and kept the score competitive throughout the match.
Though the Bulldogs took the first set, the Green Wave was able to find its footing and cut into Mississippi State's initial lead, coming out of it 25-23. Tulane carried that momentum into the second set and came out on top, denying the Bulldogs the chance of a sweep and ending it 26-28. Tulane fought and lost the final two sets, but not without putting up notable performances.
Sami Jacobs led the offensive charge and fired 15 kills throughout the match, bringing her season tally to 100. Jacobs delivered five kills during set four and earned a hitting percentage of .625. She also hit .500 in the third set thanks to four kills.
Avery Burks contributed 12 kills of her own, while Jordan White was a defensive standout, administering two solo blocks. Agata Beksha secured one solo block and two service aces, while Annabelle He landed three aces.
Setters Katherine Crosley and Zoe Rachow worked the court, racking up 15 and 18 assists, respectively.
