
Albertazzi & Macias Lead Tulane at Rainbow Wahine Invitational

KAUA'I, Hawaii – The duo of Cristina Albertazzi and Sophia Macias both shoot under par in the opening round as Tulane women's golf closed the first day of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational tied for 6th overall on Monday. As a team the Green Wave posted a first-round score of 289 (+1) to hold a tie with Eastern Michigan.

Albertazzi paced the Wave on the first 18 holes of the three-round tournament in Hawaii as she recorded a 70 (-2) to end the day 12th overall. She tallied three birdies in her first round all coming on par four holes.

Following closely behind for Tulane was Macias who shot a71 (-1) on day one to land 17th overall in the tournament. She tied for the team lead at the end of the first day of play with four total birdies in her first round.

The next pair of players on the leaderboard for the Green Wave were Sophia Chen and Francesca Pompa at the end of play on Monday. Both Chen and Pompa recorded rounds of 74 (+2) to position themselves tied for 40th overall in the tournament. Chen tied for the team lead with four birdies on the day while Pompa followed with three of her own.

Rounding out the starters for Tulane was Gabriella Gilrowski who posted a 75 (+3) to close the opening round tied for 57th in the field. She was matched by Tonka Zacharovska playing as an individual for the Wave who also shot a 75 (+3) with four birdies to match the team high.

The Green Wave will continue play in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational with round two on Tuesday. Tulane will tee off as part of a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. CT.
