
Swimming & Diving Competes in UNLV Winter Invitational This Week

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane swimming & diving team completes at the UNLV Winter Invitational this week at the Buchanan Natatorium from Dec. 15-17. The swimming preliminaries will begin daily at 11:30 a.m. CT with the day's finals to follow at 5 p.m. CT The diving preliminaries start at 2 p.m. CT with finals at 9:30 p.m. CT.
Live stats for the meet can be followed on Meet Mobile, which is a subscription phone-only live stat app as well as online at this link. The meet will also be live streamed on the UNLV Athletic YouTube page.
Championship scoring will be used. Swimmers may score in six individual events and all the relays. Each team can only score two relays per event. Championship A finals: 20-17-16-15-14, 12-11; Championship B finals: 9-7-6-5-4-3-2—1; Relays: 40-34-32-30-28-24-22-18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2.
The other teams at the competition include UNLV, Wyoming, Cal Baptist, Pacific, Alaska, and Linfield.

Last time out, led by Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou, the team had three swimmers finish in the top 40 overall at the 2025 CSCAA College Open Water National Championships in Sarasota, Fla. at Nathan Benderson Park on Saturday, Dec. 13
Individually, Petropoulou had the highest finish among the Tulane group of five swimmers in taking 17th overall (16th in Division I) with a 59:39.5. Lise Coetzee took 20th overall (18th in Division I) with a 59:46.5, Sydney Mullin earned 36th overall (28th in Division I) with a 1:00.47.9, Mary Kate Kupsky finished 61st overall (45th in Division I) with a 1:02.45.9 while Layla Allen was 64th overall (48th in Division I) with a 1:03.16.2. There was a total of 80 competitors in the Division I portion of the race.
The next team competition for the program is at a to be determined competition in San Diego, California from Dec. 30-Jan. 5
The program finished the 2024-25 season with 54 top 10 school marks including 10 school records. The team also won six events, had 28 overall all conference marks, a placing of third overall at the league championship meet plus saw Head Coach Amanda Caldwell along with her staff being named the American's Coaching Staff of the Year. The program also had 10 qualify to participate in the National Championship Invitational this season, three divers that earned bids to the Zone D Diving Championship, had four swimmers named to the Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators and six that were CSCAA Scholar All-Americans. Additionally the program had nine NCAA 'B' cuts, placed fifth at the CSCAA Open Water Championships and racked up 10 American Conference Weekly honors (five swimmers of the week, two freshman swimmers of the week, two freshman divers of the week and one conference diver of the week).
