Green Wave Welcomes Rice for Saturday Morning Rematch

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will look to sweep the season series against Rice when the Owls come to Uptown for a Saturday morning matchup inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave has been locked in defensively this season especially at home holding opponents to 62.6 points per game and 27.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc in New Orleans.

The matchup between the Wave and the Owls is set to tipoff at 11 a.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 54 all-time meeting between Tulane and Rice with the Green Wave leading the series 29-24. The Wave is on a five-game winning streak against the Owls including an 82-71 victory earlier this season in Houston on January 25. Tulane has won each of the last three games in Uptown against Rice including an 84-59 victory last season on January 3, 2024, to improve to 19-8 at home against the Owls.

In its last time out, Tulane fell in a physical road battle at North Texas 66-76 on Saturday, February 8. The trio of Asher Woods, Rowan Brumbaugh, and Gregg Glenn III led the Green Wave in scoring in the contest. Woods finished with a game-high and season-high 20 points to go with four rebounds and a pair of steals. Brumbaugh followed with his 20th consecutive game in double figures tallying 19 points while Glenn III posted 14 points for his 12th game in double digits this season.

The Green Wave holds a 10-3 record at home this season including a 4-1 mark in league play. Tulane is averaging 77.8 points on 44.9 percent shooting from the floor and 35.3 percent from three in home games this season. Kaleb Banks has played his best ball in Uptown leading the team with 18.1 points per game at home.

Rice enters the matchup on a two-game losing streak after falling 67-61 at home to North Texas on Tuesday, February 11. With the loss Rice dropped to 12-13 overall 3-8 mark in AAC play.

Trae Broadnax leads the offensive attack for the Owls averaging 12.9 points per game. He also ranks second in the league in assists with 4.5 per contest.

The Owls have been effective in getting to the charity strip this season ranking 15th in the nation with 24.4 free throw attempts per game. However, Rice has struggled to convert at the line shooting just 68.4 percent as a team.

Following the matchup against Rice, the Green Wave will host East Carolina on Wednesday, February 23. Tipoff between Tulane and the Pirates is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
