Woods Lands on AAC Weekly Honor Roll
Feb 17, 2025 | Men's Basketball
IRVING, Texas – Tulane men's basketball junior Asher Woods earned his first American Athletic Conference weekly honors on Monday after sinking the game-winner to lead the Green Wave to victory over Rice on Saturday.
Â
Woods picked up AAC Weekly Honorable Mention following his second consecutive performance with 20 points. The Atlanta native connected on 7-of-12 shots from the field including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc against the Owls. He also added three rebounds, two assists, and a steal to help the Green Wave secure the 81-78 win on February 15.
Â
The junior guard made the biggest play of the contest against Rice as he drained a game-winning three-pointer as time expired. The shot marked the first buzzer beater for the Wave since Jonathan Starks hit a buzzer-beating three to beat Cincinnati 50-49 on the road on February 14, 2015.
Â
Tulane will be back in action on Wednesday, February 19, as it hosts East Carolina in Uptown. The game between the Wave and the Pirates is set to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
