Green Wave Squares Off Against Shockers Sunday in Wichita

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will aim to win its third consecutive game as it visits Wichita State in Charles Koch Arena on Sunday, February 23. The Green Wave has gotten its offensive rhythm back scoring more than 80 points in each of its last two games improving to 8-1 this season when scoring at least 80 points.

The matchup between the Wave and the Shockers is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 13th all-time meeting between Tulane and Wichita State with the Green Wave trailing the series 5-7. The Wave has won five of the last six matchups against the Shockers including an 85-75 victory at home in the final regular season game last year on March 8, 2024. The Green Wave is on a two-game winning streak against the Shockers in Wichita with a 95-90 win in the last meeting to improve to 2-4 on the road in the series.

In its last time out, Tulane held off East Carolina for an 86-81 victory at home over the Pirates on Wednesday, February 19. Kaleb Banks and Rowan Brumbaugh combined for 46 points as the Green Wave secured its fourth-straight win over East Carolina in New Orleans. Banks finished with 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go with seven rebounds and three blocks while Brumbaugh added 21 points and seven assists to mark his second-straight game with at least 20 points and seven assists.

The Green Wave holds a 3-5 record in true road games this season including a 3-3 mark against league competition. Experience has been crucial for Tulane on the road as the top four scorers for the Wave away from home are Asher Woods with 13.6 per game, Rowan Brumbaugh at 13.5, Gregg Glenn III with 12.1, and Kaleb Banks at 10.0.

Wichita State enters the matchup on a five-game winning streak after beating Florida Atlantic 75-59 on the road Thursday, February 20, to improve to 16-10 overall and 6-7 in American Athletic Conference play. Four players average double figures in scoring for the Shockers this season led by Xavier Bell with 14.8 points per game. Defensively, Quincy Ballard leads the Shockers and the conference averaging 1.92 blocks per game.

The Shockers have been strong on the glass all season averaging 38.77 rebounds per game including 27.31 defensive boards. Both rebounding metrics for Wichita State rank 34th in country with the defensive rebounding numbers leading The American.

Following the matchup at Wichita State, the Green Wave will return home to host Charlotte on Wednesday, February 26. Tipoff between Tulane and the 49ers is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
