Tulane Drops Road Battle at Wichita State
Feb 23, 2025 | Men's Basketball
WICHITA, Kan. – A hot shooting performance in the second half for Wichita State (17-10, 7-7) was too much for Tulane men's basketball (15-12, 9-5) to overcome as the Green Wave ultimately fell 67-78 on Sunday. The Green Wave held a two-point advantage at the half, but a 10-0 run to open the second half by the Shockers turned the tide for the remainder of the contest.
With the loss, Tulane dropped 3-6 in true road games this season including 3-4 in conference play. The loss also snapped a two-game win streak in Wichita, Kansas, for the Wave and moved Tulane to 5-8 all-time against Wichita State.
Four players finished with double figures in scoring for the Green Wave led by the duo of Rowan Brumbaugh and Gregg Glenn III with 18 points each. Brumbaugh notched his 23rd consecutive game with at least 10 points while also adding five rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists.
Joining Brumbaugh and Glenn III in double digits were Kaleb Banks and Mari Jordan with 10 points apiece. Banks also paced the Wave on the glass with seven rebounds while matching his career-high with three steals.
Tulane got off to a slow start in the game as Wichita State threw the first punch with an 8-0 run to begin play. After a timeout the Wave began to find its rhythm chipping into the early deficit.
Brumbaugh converted an and-one layup with just under eight minutes on the clock to give the Green Wave its first lead of the day at 17-15. Over the next few minutes, the two teams went back and forth trading the lead six times until Tulane scored five-straight points to take a 31-26 advantage and ultimately a 31-29 lead at the break.
The second half began with another run by Wichita State as the Shockers scored the first 10 points of the frame to claim control of the contest. After falling behind by 12 points, Tulane made a push to pull back within five points with 13:07 to play. However, the Wave was unable to get any closer than that as its deficit grew back to as many as 13 points down the stretch with Tulane ultimately falling 67-78.
Up next, the Wave will return home to host Charlotte on Wednesday, February 26. The contest between Tulane and the 46ers is set to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
