Bowling Sweeps Bulldog Classic Day One

FORT WORTH – Tulane Bowling dominated its opening day of the Bulldog Classic, going a perfect 5-0 in match play. A total pinfall of 4,616 and wins over Alabama State, Saint Anselm, Sam Houston, Central Missouri, and Morgan State put the Wave in strong position for tomorrow's competition.
The Wave's first match of the day finished in a 978-845 win over Alabama State. Tulane and Alabama State traded wins, with Tulane leading the day off 257-145. Alabama State took games two (215-199) and four (176-157), but wins from the Wave in games three (177-143) and five (188-166) sealed the match.Â
Tulane followed up with an 878-757 victory over Saint Anselm. The Green Wave won games one, three, four, and five (191-148, 141-139, 168-159, and 187-154), only dropping game two by two points, 141-139.
The Green Wave then defeated Sam Houston 890-853. Wins in games one (179-172), two (174-144), and four (206-193) funded the triumph over the Bearcats, who took games three (185-181) and five (159-150).
Tulane delivered its highest-scoring performance of the day in match four, defeating Central Missouri 963-778. The Wave took wins in games one (191-143), three (225-134), and four (221-159). The Jennies claimed two (177-170) and five 165-156).
In the final match, Tulane finalized their day one sweep with a 907-811 victory over Morgan State. The teams tied the first game 168-168, but the Wave won games two (168-132), four (208-152), and five (180-168) to clinch the win. Morgan State had game three 191-183.Â
Tulane ended the day ranked second in the tournament, three pins behind first place Sam Houston.Â
Tulane Bowling will resume play tomorrow at 10:20 a.m.
