Tulane Visits Roadrunners in San Antonio Wednesday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will go for the regular season sweep of UTSA on Wednesday night when it faces the Roadrunners in the Convocation Center in San Antonio. The Green Wave defeated UTSA 92-63 in the first matchup this season in New Orleans on January 4.
The matchup between the Wave and the Roadrunners is set to tipoff at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This marks the sixth all-time meeting between Tulane and UTSA with the Green Wave leading the series 4-1. The Wave is 1-1 against UTSA in San Antonio after falling to the Roadrunner 88-89 on January 24, 2024, last season. The Green Wave's lone victory on the road against UTSA came on January 2, 1983, by a final score of 71-64.
In its last time out, Tulane returned to the win column surviving a defensive battle to defeat Tulsa 59-56 at home on Sunday afternoon. The Green Wave held the Golden Hurricane to just 37.9 percent shooting from the floor and 28.0 percent from beyond the arc in the contest. Rowan Brumbaugh and Asher Woods were the only players to reach double figures in scoring for the Wave as Brumbaugh ended with a game-high 23 points followed by 10 from Woods.
Brumbaugh earned his second nod American Athletic Conference weekly honorable mention recognition on Monday after averaging 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in a 1-1 week for the Wave. Brumbaugh has scored in double figures in 18 consecutive games including five games with at least 20 points. The guard also leads Tulane in conference play averaging 17.8 points per game.
UTSA enters the matchup with a 10-11 overall record and a 4-5 mark in AAC play after defeating North Texas on the road 54-50 on February 1. Five players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Roadrunners led by Primo Spears who ranks third in the conference and eighth nationally with 20.5 points per game.
The Roadrunners have been effective in turning opponents over this season leading The American in steals per game, turnover margin, and turnovers forced per game. The team also rate sixth in the nation in fastbreak points averaging 16.81 per game.
Following the matchup at UTSA, the Green Wave will travel to Denton, Texas, to face North Texas on Saturday, February 8. Tipoff between Tulane and the Mean Green is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
