NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane swimming and diving team was recently recognized as a team for outstanding work in the classroom during the 2024 fall semester by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The program saw the 24 members of the squad put up a 3.67 fall GPA for head coach Amanda Caldwell to earn Scholar All-America Team honors by the CSCAA. In order to earn the national recognition, the team needed a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and higher for the semester.
Tulane was one of 781 teams from 459 institutions that were recognized nationally in the fall by CSCAA. Of the selected teams, an impressive 654 recorded a GPA of 3.30 or higher, qualifying them for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings.
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, praised the outstanding achievements, stating, "The commitment to academic excellence shown by these teams is truly admirable. It's inspiring to see student-athletes excelling both in the pool and in their studies. The CSCAA takes great pride in acknowledging and celebrating the dedication and perseverance of these teams."
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
Last time out, the Tulane swimming and diving team won all 13 events, totaled 22 top three individual finishes and achieved a Zone qualifying diving mark in earning a 159-83 Senior Day victory over West Florida on February 1 at the Reily Center Natatorium. Â The program had two individual multi-event winners on the afternoon in Andrea Zeebe (200 free and 100 back) and Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou (1000 free and 100 butterfly)
