
Wolfe Wins Pole Vault as Tulane Wraps Up Louisiana Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. - Tulane track & field opened its outdoor campaign with a solid showing at the Louisiana Classic highlighted by a first-place finish by freshman Presley Wolfe in the women's pole vault. As a team the Green Wave had five individual athletes and one relay team land on the podium in their event at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Wolfe was the standout for the Wave as she cleared 3.75 meters to win the women's pole vault. Fellow freshman Cosette Fleury finished seventh in the event clearing 3.30 meters.
Kaia Todd earned a runner-up finish in the women's triple jump reaching 11.87 meters on her best jump while Shamiso Zihumo landed seventh at 10.77 meters. Todd also posted a top-10 finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles crossing the finish line in eighth with a time of 15.16. Two other athletes hit their personal best in the 100-meter hurdles for Tulane as Robyn Larkin landed on the podium in third with a time of 14.31 and Sofie Groeninger finished seventh in 15.07.
In the women's 800 meters Jasper Newton posted a third-place finish crossing the line in 2:20.25 followed by Isabella Adams set a personal best in sixth with a time of 2:22.20.
Jada Johnson earned her spot on the podium in the women's high jump with her best attempt clearing 1.58 meters to finish third. Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas finished fifth in the event also at 1.58 meters.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team for the Green Wave comprised of Bella Carroll, Dumonteil Cabanas, Jada Johnson, and Groeninger finished second with a time of 3:55.36.
Lee Harris recorded a personal record in the men's 100-meter dash as he finished sixth overall with a time of 10.59. Over in the women's 100-meter dash Carroll also posted her personal best crossing the line at 12.44.
The Wave saw two runners post personal bests in the men's 400 meters as Roman Schrader ran a 50.81 and Alexander Montoro finished at 50.96. In the women's 400 meters Bryanna Fears crossed the finish line at 1:02.78 to post her personal best.
A pair of athletes also set personal records for Tulane in throwing events during the meet. Sofia Carusa hit 34.72 meters in the women's discus while Payton Musso reached 33.89 meters in the women's javelin.
Up next, the Green Wave will travel to North Carolina for the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State from Thursday to Saturday, March 27-29.
