Wave Tied for Ninth Through Two Rounds in Ironwood Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Tulane golf sits tied for ninth among 16 teams after 36-holes on the opening day of the Ironwood Invitational hosted by East Carolina. The Green Wave carded a two-round team score of 614 (+38) on Monday to end the day tied with Radford.
As a team, Tulane leads the tournament on par 5s averaging 4.97 strokes to finish the day one under par on those holes. The Green Wave also ranks fourth in the field with 16 total birdies through 36 holes.
Pacing the Wave on the first day of play was Gabriella Gilrowski ended tied for 29th overall posting a 152 (+8) through two rounds. She opened the tournament with a 79 (+7) on her first 18 holes before bouncing back for a 73 (+1) in the second round. Gilrowski led Tulane with a team-high five birdies on Monday making her mark on the par 5s shooting three under on those holes.
The duo of Ruhee Pandit and Francesca Pompa were next in the standings for the Green Wave landing tied for 42nd at 155 (+11). Pandit got out to a solid start carding a 74 (+2) in the first round before finishing the day with an 81 (+9) in the second. Pompa followed with a similar performance as she posted a 75 (+3) to begin the day before closing with an 80 (+8).
Matilde Innocenti followed by shooting a 156 (+12) through two rounds to end the day tied for 50th overall. After posting an 82 (+10) in her opening round, she bounced back in the second to card a 74 (+2).
Rounding out the group for the Wave was Cristina Albertazzi who closed the opening day tied for 68th with a 36-hole score of 159 (+15 – 80, 79).
Tulane will finish play in the Ironwood Invitational with the third and final round on Tuesday. The Green Wave will tee off in another shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
