Apr 3, 2025 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's men's tennis team is back home this weekend to host three matches at City Park Tennis Center including a doubleheader. The Green Wave will welcome Liberty to town on Friday at 12 p.m. before hosting No. 49 Memphis and Southern for a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
The Wave enters the weekend on a five-match losing streak holding a 5-13 record overall. However, Tulane has performed better at home this season going 3-3 in matches at City Park Tennis Center.
In the first match of the weekend, the Green Wave will square off with the Liberty Flames for the first time in program history. Liberty comes to New Orleans with a 7-12 record including 1-7 on the road. Fans can watch the match between the Wave and the Flames live on ESPN+.
The Wave's doubleheader on Sunday will start with an American Athletic Conference matchup between Tulane and the 49th-ranked Memphis Tigers at 1 p.m. The Green Wave is 8-8 against the Tigers despite losing the last three meetings between the teams. Tulane is 3-4 at home against Memphis with its last home victory over the Tigers coming on March 6, 2016, by way of a 7-0 sweep.
Following the match against the Tigers, Tulane will finish the weekend against in-state foe Southern at 4 p.m. The Green Wave is a perfect 5-0 against the Jaguars including a 7-0 sweep to open the regular season this year on January 18 at City Park Tennis Center.
Sophomore Hady El Kordy leads the Wave in singles play so far this spring with seven victories with five coming on the No. 2 court for Tulane. In doubles action, El Kordy and AJ Mercer have teamed to earn five wins primarily on the No. 3 court for Tulane holding a 4-2 record at that position.
After play is completed this weekend, Tulane will finish the regular season at home against No. 29 Auburn on Friday, April 11, at 1 p.m.
