Green Wave Rolls to SEISA Women’s Fleet Race Championship

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing kicked off the SEISA Conference Championships on Lake Pontchartrain with a commanding victory in the women's fleet race championship on Friday. The Green Wave finished with 22 total points to claim the title by 40 points over the next team in the regatta.
The Wave was represented by teams in the A and B Divisions of the championship. Both teams tallied 11 total points through seven races on the water Friday.
In the A Division, Tulane finished first or second in every race of the day. Sailors Sammie Gardner, Oakley Cunningham, and Caitlin Briggs led the group to three first-place performances in the regatta.
Over in the B Division, the Green Wave recorded four first-place finishes and behind the racing of Ava Anderson, Gabriela Vassel, Cate Anderson, Essie Clifton, and Martha Hughes.
Up next, Tulane will head back out on the waters of Lake Pontchartrain for the remaining three SEISA Conference Championships on Saturday. Racing will begin with women's team race championship at 10 a.m. followed by the open team race championship and then the open fleet race championship.
