Tulane Records Highest Finishes in AAC Outdoor Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Tulane track & field posted its best finishes in program history in the 2025 American Athletic Outdoor Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Green Wave women placed fourth overall with 89 total points while the men landed in seventh with 68 points.
The Wave saw 18 medals won across the three-day championship meet including six individual champions. Freshmen Bernard Cheruiyot and Blezzin Kimutai led the way for Tulane each winning two individual titles. Cheruiyot also earned AAC Freshman of the Year following the meet.
Tulane shined in the 5000m and 10,000m on both the men's and women's side. Cheruiyot claimed the championship in both races posting a final time of 14:09.02 in the 5000m and crossing the finish line at 30:04.50 in the 10,000m. He was followed by Jack Jennings on the podium in third in the 5000m at 14:14.41 and second in the 10,000m at 30:16.78. Silas Kiptanui just missed the podium in the 5000m finishing in fourth with a time of 14:22.64.
On the women's side, Blezzin Kimutai showed out for the Green Wave winning the 5000m and the 10,000m. She crossed the line first in the 5000m at 16:41.37 while Dorcas Naibei followed in third at 16:54.49. In the 10,000m, Kimutai took the title with a final time of 35:01.24.
Illia Kunin added another individual champion for Tulane in the men's 1500m as he recorded a time of 3:48.00 to cross the finish line first. In the women's 1500m Naibei (4:27.86) and Reese Ragland (4:29.41) both found the podium finishing second and third, respectively.
The sixth individual title for the Green Wave was delivered courtesy of Silas Kiptanui in the men's 3000m steeplechase. He posted a time of 8:41.41 to take home the title in the event for Tulane. Alex Sharp also reached the podium in the women's 3000m steeplechase as she landed third with a time of 10:37.37.
Tulane also showed off its speed in the sprints as Egbe Ndip-Agbor and Lee Harris both made their way onto the podium. Ndip-Agbor claimed second in the women's 200m with a time of 23.29 and finished third in the 100m at 11.550. Meanwhile, Harris took third in the men's 100m crossing the finish line at 10.49.
Janae Dean capped off her stellar career for the Green Wave with a second-place performance in 800m. She crossed the finish line with a time of 2:05.39.
In the field, Kaia Todd claimed her spot on the podium in the women's triple jump as she finished in third place with her best jump of 12.64 meters.
