Green Wave Sits in 13th at Sam Golden Invitational

CORINTH, Texas – Tulane University women's golf finished the first day of competition at the Sam Golden Invitational in 13th place in the field. The Green Wave posted a team score of 584 (+8) through two rounds of action on Monday.

Three players recorded rounds under par on the first day of play in the 2025-26 campaign for the Wave. Tonka Zacharovska ended the 36-hole day as the leader for Tulane after she shot a 70 (-2) in her second round to close the day tied for 35th overall. She posted a 73 (+1) in her first round which put her with a two-round score of 143 (-1).

The duo of freshman Sophia Macias and sophomore Francesca Pompa each recorded their first rounds of the season under par. Macias opened the day with a 70 (-2) in the first round before shooting a 76 (+4) in round two. Meanwhile, Pompa posted a 71 (-1) in her first 18 holes before recording a 75 (+3) in the second round. The pair each landed tied for 52nd overall with a 36-hole total of 146 (+2).

Next up on the leaderboard for Tulane at the end of day one was Gabriella Gilrowski who closed with a two-round score of 149 (+5) to sit tied for 63rd. Gilrowski started her day with a 73 (+1) in the first round and posted a 76 (+4) on the final 18 hole of the day.

Rounding out the group for the Green Wave was Sophia Chen who landed 71st in the field with a total score of 152 (+8) after shooting back-to-back rounds of 76 (+4) on Monday.

Tulane will finish play at the Sam Golden Invitational with the third and final round on Tuesday. The Wave will tee off in another shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m.
