
Pompa Posts Top 20 Finish at Huntington Bank Collegiate

DALLAS, Texas – The final regular season tournament of the spring for Tulane women's golf was highlighted by sophomore Francesca Pompa who finished tied for 17th among 91 players in the field at the Huntington Bank Collegiate hosted by SMU. As a team the Green Wave landed 10th out of 17 teams with a total three-round score of 880 (+16) at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
The Wave finished the two-day tournament eighth in total birdies with 47 which was more than three teams ranked in the top 50. Tulane posted rounds of 291 (+3), 293 (+5), and 296 (+8) to end the competition in front of one ranked program - #50 Texas Tech.
Pompa led the charge for the Green Wave as she landed tied for 17th overall with a 54-hole score of 215 (-1 – 71, 73, 71). She posted two rounds under par in the tournament shooting a 71 (-1) in her first and third rounds. Pompa led Tulane shooting two-under par on par 3s which tied for third in the field and three-under par on par 5s. She also paced the Green Wave sinking 12 total birdies which ranked tied for 17th overall.
Next up on the leaderboard for the Wave was freshman Sophia Macias who closed Tuesday tied for 50th with a three-round total of 222 (+6 – 75, 73, 74). She tied for second on the team and 29th in the tournament with 10 birdies while also tying for the team lead with 32 pars.
Gabriella Gilrowski followed Macias in the tournament standings as she finished tied for 62nd overall with a final score of 224 (+8 - 72, 78, 74). She was one of three players for Tulane to post at least one round of par or better in the tournament as she collected nine total birdies and led the team on par 4s averaging 4.03 strokes on those holes.
The next player on the leaderboard for Tulane was Sophia Chen with a total score of 225 (+9 – 73, 75, 77) which landed her in a tie for 67th in the tournament. Chen matched Macias to tie for second on the team and 29th overall with 10 birdies across three rounds of action in Texas.
Cristina Albertazzi rounded out the group for the Wave ending the tournament tied for 75th overall with a 54-hole score of 229 (+13 – 78, 72, 79). Albertazzi tied for the team lead with 32 pars while adding six birdies in the two-day tournament.

Tulane will compete in the American Conference Championship from April 20-22 in Brooksville, Florida. The tournament will be held at Southern Hills Plantation Club.
