NEW ORLEANS – Tulane men's basketball (12–9, 3–5) suffered its fifth loss in a row on Wednesday dropping to South Florida (14-7, 6-2) 83-97 inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Tulane fell to the Bulls in New Orleans for the first time since 2020 and dropped to 13-9 against South Florida at home. The defeat also marked the first five game losing streak for the Wave since dropping five-straight from November 22 to December 7, 2024.
All five starters for the Green Wave finished with double figures in scoring led by the duo of Asher Woods and Tyler Ringgold with 14 points apiece. Ringgold also knocked down a career-best three three-pointers in the contest.
Rowan Brumbaugh and Curtis Williams Jr. each added 12 points against the Bulls. Brumbaugh led the team with six rebounds and five assists while Williams hit a team-high four shots from beyond the arc.
In his first career start Luke Rasmussen rounded out the players in double figures for the Green Wave as he posted a career-high 11 points in 38 minutes of action. He also matched his career bests in steals and blocks with three and two, respectively.
South Florida jumped out to the early advantage in the first half as Tulane trailed by eight points just over six minutes into the contest. The Wave did not back down battling back with an 18-6 run capped by back-to-back threes from Scotty Middleton and Woods to take its largest lead of the night 27-23 with 9:28 to play in the first half.
The advantage did not last for the Green Wave as the Bulls answered with a 20-2 scoring run that put Tulane down double digits. With 2:19 remaining in the first half the Wave had pulled back within eight points, but South Florida closed the frame strong to put Tulane behind 39-52 at the half.
Momentum remained with the Bulls in the second half as the deficit for the Green Wave reached as many as 25 points (58-83) with 7:54 remaining. Tulane managed to make a small dent in the deficit down the stretch before ultimately falling 83-97.
